Tottenham Hotspur defeated Aston Villa 2-0 to keep their place in the Champions League in sight.

Tottenham moved within three points of the Champions League positions with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, thanks to goals from Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane. Jose Mourinho's side bounced back well after being relegated from the Europa League on Thursday and losing last weekend's north London derby to Arsenal.

Tottenham took the lead in the 29th minute for the game's first real opportunity.

Vinicius' pursuit of a long ball resulted in a bad clearance by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Vinicius was teed off for a tap-in after Lucas Moura and Kane played a one-two, his first league goal since joining on loan from Benfica in October.

Tottenham increased its advantage halfway through the second half when Kane converted a penalty after being fouled by Matty Cash.
