Chelsea advanced to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in seven years since defeating Porto 2-1 on aggregate, and they now await the announcement of their rivals.

Chelsea and Liverpool have a long tradition of meeting in the Champions League semi-finals, but Thomas Tuchel is optimistic that the two teams will not meet again this year.

The rival clubs played in the competition's last four in 2005, 2007, and 2008, and will meet again if Liverpool will conquer their first-leg loss to Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Tuchel's team has already advanced to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of a 2-1 aggregate victory over Porto.

After Mehdi Taremi's superb overhead kick in stoppage time made for a tense final few minutes, the Blues defied a late scare to seal their advancement.

"I don’t wish for nothing but in general I like it in Champions League not to play teams from your own league," the Chelsea manager told BT Sport . "Because it gets a bit more the feeling of the European competition but that’s the only thing.
